Mr. Douglas was born in Detroit in 1970.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Bowling Green State University in 1994
and a Juris Doctor from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1998.  

Mr. Douglas was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1999.  He was also admitted to practice in the
United States District Court
for the Western District of Michigan in 1999 and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2000.
Mr. Douglas was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2011.

Mr. Douglas began legal practice as an attorney for the State of Michigan, Department of Consumer and
Industry Services, Bureau of
Commercial Services, Enforcement Division, where he prosecuted State
licensing actions brought against residential builders.  While there,
Mr. Douglas helped hundreds of residential
builders successfully resolve claims asserted against them.

Thereafter Mr. Douglas entered private practice where he practiced for four years with a small firm specializing in construction law.

In 2004, Mr. Douglas founded his small construction law practice dedicated exclusively to a personable no-nonsense approach to serving
the construction industry, real estate professionals, and individuals impacted thereby.
